IT'S TIME TO STOP DEFENDING SARAH PALIN

As a person raised with Conservative core values and principles I have always loved our country, the people of our country, the greatness of our country's foundation and principles, and the great story and vision of our country's founding fathers. But..., as a Conservative, I have been sadly disappointed in the modern incarnation of my Party, the Republican Party. A party that in recent times has been focused on compromise with political enemies, following the path of least resistance to flash polls and flavor-of-the-moment moods of public sentiment, and most disappointing , making nice to the elite left wing media who will always hate us regardless. When I hear Republican leaders say that we need to "reach across the aisle" to find common ground with Democrats... Democrats who would never think of doing the same..., or I hear Republican Icons saying that the era of Reagan is over and we need to rethink Conservatism as it applies to today's problems, as if the same Conservative values and approach to governance that Ronald Reagan applied to keeping our country safe and strong are not good enough for today's world, I have to wonder where the soul of the Party went. Where the spirit of Abraham Lincoln dwells anymore in this Party. Last night, Republican nominee for Vice President, Sarah Palin spoke to the Republican Party, and more importantly to the country. And something startling happened. I felt something well-up inside me as I heard this strong, beautiful, confident, proud woman speak of the intrinsic value of life, country, and individual achievement. As I saw and heard this American woman , this proud United States citizen talk in honest clear heartfelt words about her family, our families, and the sacrifices we make daily to make daily to make this country the greatest place to live anywhere in the world.. I felt..., proud. I felt proud to be a member of the same political Party that she is a member of. I once again felt proud to be a Republican. Sarah Palin has restored the vision of the core values of Conservatism as the core values of Republicanism. And I want to make one more point here. Up to the time of Sarah's speech at the Convention, we have been defending her against the attacks of the vicious liberal left who , as always, seek to destroy people rather than debate issues. Sarah Palin proved last night what we know about her as Conservatives, that she is able to defend herself very well. But not only did she defend herself by her display of strong confident poise, grace and speech, but she also went on the offensive. She picked up the ball and started down the field toward the enemy goal line. She has put the enemy on defense. We no longer need to "defend" Sarah against our mutual political enemies, but we need to stand beside her and take the offense with her. She displayed genuine leadership by turning the tables on her opponents. We need to follow her que and follow with her on that positive whole-hearted forward momentum to the goal. And I believe we will do exactly that.

THE RIGHT IS RIGHT - A CLASSY NIGHT AT THE RNC

President Bush, Fred Thompson, and Joe Lieberman all gave inspirational speeches last night at the Republican National Convention. President Bush set the tone with an uplifting speech that accentuated the greatness of the country, the preparedness of John McCain to take the leadership role, to take the highest political position in the country, and he delivered that message with good grace a positive tone and a smile on his face. The President's speech reminded me of Ronald Reagan's resolute belief in the greatness of our nation. And I'm sure that the Senior Bush's, Mr. and Mrs., were as proud as parents could be to witness the resolute leadership of their son whose efforts as President were key to keeping the country safe from further assaults. Ending his speech by mentioning the painting in his office of the sun shining on a mountain in Texas with the analogy of citizens of the USA as always being on the sunrise side of that mountain was reminiscent of Ronald Reagan's Shining City On A Hill. It was a motivational speech. Fred Thompson gave a dramatic recounting of John McCain's suffering and courage while a captive POW of the North Vietnamese. Most of us know the gut wrenching story of McCain's ordeal and resolve to survive while doing right by his fellow American captives. But Fred Thompson brought it to life with poignancy and clarity, emphasizing the personal moral decisions McCain made and held to while undergoing the intense pain and suffering reaped by his tormentors. The telling of the story of John McCain from his childhood to his adult life served again to expose the dramatic difference between Obama and McCain. Knowing the life's story of John McCain one has to wonder how anyone could choose to put Obama into the White House over Senator McCain. There is simply no comparison. Senator Lieberman reached out to undecided Democrats last night and attempted to explain exactly that. He gave a fine speech , as a Democrat at a Republican National Convention, truly a unique occurrence in a historical sense, by de-emphasizing party and emphasizing the USA as one nation. Senator Lieberman is a good, decent man and eloquent statesman. Though as Conservatives and Republicans we will certainly disagree with his liberal views on social issues, where we can agree whole heartedly is on the key thing he brought to his speech last night. His support for John McCain and for the defense of the country itself. I'd also like to briefly mention the crowds at the RNC. These are a very classy people. They gave Democrat Senator Lieberman a very warm welcome, and even applauded politely when he mentioned what he thought were positive points about Bill Clinton. You did not hear people booing him or any of the points he made. You did not see people ignoring him or chatting idly during his speech. When liberals and/or Democrats or media pundits speak ignorantly about a lack of tolerance among Republicans and Conservatives, they may want to remember the example set by the Republican Party last night when a Democrat spoke to them. One last note here. Regarding Sarah Palin, McCain's pick for his VP running mate. As I stated in a previous post, I whole heartedly support her being on the ticket. As we know, as Conservatives, as Republicans, we are consistently hit twice as hard as any Democrat or Liberal ever gets hit in the news media. We are the subject of vicious unrelenting personal attacks and attempts to destroy us on a personal level both by the professional media and now by scores of extremist blogs. Sarah Palin is experiencing that now on a national scale. She is seeing first hand the underlying vitriol and mindless crack-headed hatred that some so called professional journalists have for anyone with an (R) next to their name. Especially when those angry mobster-style journalists know that they are facing a person of Sarah's strong moral quality and outstanding personal background. Sarah knows she has a battle on her hands to push through that mob of wild eyed festering voices and savage print critics to show the world who she is and what she can accomplish. She will do this, with our support, and the support of her family and friends, but mostly by her own superior fortitude and resolve. You may recall Hillary Clinton shedding tears on her campaign trail, vying for the sympathy of the country as woman in distress. Sarah Palin is not Hillary Clinton. You won't see that from Sarah. She will bring her own genuine strength, spirit, and honesty to the campaign and to the McCain administration. I believe as Conservatives we all stand with Sarah, and that our hopes and prayers for success are with her and her family.

THE CONVENTION AND THE STORM

A powerful storm is hitting Louisianna. A few weeks ago a powerful storm hit Florida. Testament to the power of God, we have no control over when a storm happens or where it will go. We do, however, have control over how we react to storms. Hurricane Katrina a powerful, deadly storm that struck Louisianna, Missippi, Alabama and other areas along the coast and inland three years ago was not the most powerful storm ever, but it was the most politicized storm ever and through poor management was the costliest ever. Because of bad leadership at the state and city levels of government a lot of citizens embroiled in a massive welfare state from which they never were encouraged to rise out of, primarily in Louisianna ended up suffering far more than was necessary, becoming far more of a burden to reach with assistance. Through abusing relief systems, distorting news reports, and shouting falsely about "racism" and demanding ever more and more money to be sent to Louisianna, particularly New Orleans which continued to mismanage it, politcians, liberal activists, and sadly even some of the very citizens caught in it ended up generating some ill will over a period of time. Eventually enough money got to where it as intended, the reconstruction of large areas of damaged homes, businesses and lands and levees, but to this day it remains one of the most unfortunate displays of  rampant abuse, and failed leadership during an emergency by a single state in our country's history. Depsite that..., the good people of Louisianna and other states and good buisnesses dontated time, supplies, money and effort to rebuild New Orleans. Now another storm is hitting Louisianna. And what do we see?  Strength. This time we see good evacuation plans, we see strong leadership, we see a state prepared for a potential natural disaster. News and political pundits say it's "Because we learned the lessons of Katrina". The lesson learned by the people of New Orleans was that a Democrat Governor failed them with weak wobbly leadership.  Now a strong Conservative Republican leader holds the Governor's residence in Louisianna. The lesson learned is that it is the leaders of our states that are the arbiters of how prepared we are as individual states to handle a critical emergency. Now we have the Republican National Convention occurring this week. Pundits are all over the map on whether it should it go on, or if it should be suspended..., because of a storm hitting Louisianna.  If Republicans put the Convention on hold because of this, then they are guilty of politicizing the storm. They will look weak, and frightened. What they should do is acknowledge the people of Louisianna and extend hopes that all goes well with them indicating that the leaders of other states are ready to provide assistance if needed, but also trust in Governor Jindal to handle the emergency processes of his state, and go on fully with the Convention. This is not a tsunami, it's not a volcano going off, its a storm, albeit a significant one. But it will pass, and more will come, hitting various parts of the country at various intervals that we will not be able to control any more than we can control this one. The Presidential race is about far more than what happens with a storm in Louisianna. Though to watch the news, you might not believe it, but life is actually going on in other parts of the country.

SARAH PALIN - SHOULD BE PRESIDENT

What is perhaps most striking when you first see and hear Sarah Palin is that she is utterly unpretentious, she is not an elitist, she is like anyone's next door neighbor mom who loves her family and her stands up for what she beleives in. She is "Mrs. America" , Conservative honest and ( dare I say it...) she's much better looking than Hillary. And she is POSITVE. UPBEAT. ENERGETIC. She is a woman who middle America will look at and immediately get the sense of decency and family values that we share in all Conservative communites. Now, to some of those people on the right who are whining and crying and pooping in thier diapers about McCain not having picked someone with more experience..., it's time for you to grow up and get a grip on reality.  I'd rather have Sarah Palin in line to be President than either Obama or Biden.  Sarah is the kind of common sense citizen-politician that our country's forefathers envisoned serving thier country, then returning to thier families. In fact if I'd be fine with Sarah Palin at the top of the ticket and McCain as "her" VP running mate. I think she'd make a great President starting on day one. But Sarah represents something even more profound.  Sarah Palin is a signpost pointing the way back to Conservative vaules as the predominant force of the Republican Party, a Party that has wandered far away from it's base and allowed blue-blood elitists to set a weak agenda of compromise with enemies and moderate values. And Sarah represents what Conservatives have always tried to explain but elitists have never understood. We are not concerned whether our leaders are male or female, black or white, but that the core principles of the individual are rooted in the Conservative values we all share that have made the United States strong and free. Sarah has those Conservative principles.

BILL CLINTON GIVES OBAMA A LEWINSKY

Bill Clinton, the most famous adulterer and perjurer on earth, only the second president in our country's history to be impeached by the House Of Representatives, the President who honored the terrorist Yasser Arafat by inviting him to the White House ( what is it about this bunch of Democrats and thier affinity for associating with terrorists?), the man who allowed sales of technology to the Chinese that aided thier construction of ICBM's, the man who protested his own country's war efforts as he stood on foreign soil both as a young man and an old man..., a man who has disgraced the White House and the Presidency infinitely more than Nixon ever did,the man who turned the words AstroTurf and Lewinsky into a sexual reference and promoted the nation-wide discussion of whether a BJ is, or is not sex, the man who refused to hold Osama Bin-Laden in prison when he was offered the chance on multiple occasions, has gone from calling Barack Obama's position on Iraq the biggest fairytale he's ever seen , to giving a rousing speech to the crowds at the Democrat National Convention last night where he loudly proclaimed Obama is right on Iraq. After all that's been revealed about Bill Clinton's disgraceful political and personal scandals I don't know why anyone except the most extreme liberals would ever cheer him or trust anything he has to say. But the tone of Clinton's speech was mostly upbeat, it promoted Obama even though Obama's resume was scant, even though we learned nothing more about Obama than we knew before, and it showed why Bill Clinton is a man who could sell ice to Eskimos. I found it curious, his healthy praise for John McCain. Bill Clinton was there to shore-up Obama. This did not seem to be the moment to inject praise for McCain. There was no need to. So why did he do it? I didn't hear any boos, any catcalls, any negative reaction from the crowds as he praised McCain. Was he speaking to those who were so disappointed with the nomination of Obama that they said they were going to vote McCain? That's my suspicion, but I'm not sure. Was it a suggestion to those people that they "could" vote McCain? I'm not sure. Regardless, his speech ended with the typical liberal crap that the US is suffering in image, the people are agonizing every day, the economy is woe, the military is woe, woe woe woeful United States.

HILLARY CLINTON'S AMERICA - VICTIMS OF FREEDOM

I learned three things from Hillary Rodham Clinton's speech at the Democrat National Convention last night. She thinks very highly of herself. She supports Obama for President. she thinks the typical US citizens are living in their own feces and it's all the fault of George Bush. Biggest lie in the speech; when she said that she believed the US is a great country. She doesn't believe that. Her examples of citizens she met during her campaign were of desperately struggling people in terrible situations. Victims. That was what Hillary presented. The US is filled with victims because, by her standards we are not enough of a socialist nation. Tell us Hillary, where were the examples of citizens who succeeded in reaching thier dreams, without needing the government to make it happen for them? They are out there, Senator. Did you even bother to try to find those success stories? What else did we learn. We learned that the US is still envisioned in a caste system of wage classes by Democrats. The rich are always too rich and need to be taxed more, oil companies are evil and need to be taxed more than ever, and the availability of health services to those in need is not good enough and therefore needs to be taken over by the government for all people and be doled out like watered down soup at a homeless kitchen. Hillary asked her voters, if they were "in it" for all the people in the country who feel invisible. Apparently, to Hillary, being "visible" means having your needs taken care of by the government, but more importantly having a Democrat in the White House. Who are the IN-visible people that Hillary thinks need a Democrat politician to make them visible? This is a sick view of the United States, and a wrong view. In this country individuals are as visible as they choose to be. Just ask the Re-Create 68 protesters outside the Democrat National Convention. But let's look at what a real American success story is. How many people have heard the name Sam Walton? Probably a lot. The reason is that this Oklahoma farm boy who started out with very little grew up through hard work and creative ideas to become founder of the biggest retail chain in the world, Wal-Mart. But that's just one example of the great success that can be grasped by anyone with the drive and inspiration to avail themselves of the opportunities of a capitalist marketplace in this country. Hillary's sob stories about victims are not motivational, not inspirational, do not speak to what can be achieved nor point out the greatness of the US. We need a leader who looks out across this country and sees the great things that are happening now and that "can" happen because of the freedoms and opportunities that are not tamped down by an overbearing government implementing a socialized system of sameness for all people.

OBAMA'S MISSING MOJO - HIS BOUNCE FALLS FLAT

The Democrats know why Obama has "lost his mojo". It's simple. He displayed the malady of his ignorance through the vessel of his elitist mouth and starting talking in specifics. That was first when he had to face the problem with Pastor Wright. That's when people in his own party started grimacing, rolling thier eyes and saying "oh brother, we've got a problem". Obama never truly recovered from that. When he was the candyman handing out rainbows and dreams with his whimsical high level notions of unity and change he was on a roll. Starting with Wright, the rainbows started fading, the dreams started becoming nightmares. Then, he started mixing it up with the Clintons. That's when he made new mistakes by getting specific about what he would do in terms of handling the economy, the war, and the energy costs. That's when the caterpillar shed his cocoon and the liberal inside crawled out, but without any wings. Call him a Progressive, an Idealist, a Visionary..., if that makes you happy, but putting a sticky note that reads "Unity and Change" on an old liberal playbook filled with divisiveness and stale ideas doesn't hide what it is. Then the scandals over his associates , his house, etc.., showed everyone that he was not "clean".  He has his closet of scandals. Then his rambling stuttering nuancing answer of every question that was not prepared in advance with a text for him to refer to, showed that he is in fact "not" articulate when he needs to meet a challenge on his feet. Then announcing his idiotic notion that keeping tires properly inflated will save as much oil as drilling would produce..., showed in no uncertain terms that he is not "bright". Not Bright, Not Clean, Not Articulate. Biden was wrong when he labeled him with those adjectives.  But listening to him rant..., listening to Obama ranting about McCain not having a quick response on the number of homes he owns.., is a sign that doom has come knocking on the door. Obama has become his own Anti-Obama. He is now the exact thing he claimed he wasn't. Above the fray, a new kind of politician that builds bridges and unites all parties. He sounded like Mrs. Clinton on one of her shrill out of control rants. But even Hillary sounded more sincere in her shrill rants than Obama does. He sounds desperate, and phony, and weak. And McCain has finally found the guts to take the fight to Obama. Yes, the Democrats have a very good reason to be worried. I don't believe that Obama's VP pick can save him from himself. Obama is far left of center.  That is not where middle America is.

OBAMA WORRIES ABOUT MCCAIN'S HOMES

Recently Barack Obama suggested that John McCain was out of touch for being uncertain of how many properties he owned. So, it's come down to this. Obama has not been able to find an issue to attack McCain on that will gain him back momentum that he's been losing in the polls, so he decides to play the role of a whiny snot-nosed brat and in a shrill and silly overly-dramatic and poorly acted tone complain that McCain is out of touch because between John McCain and his wife Cindy they own 7 houses. McCain responded by pointing out Obama's lack of judgement by allowing Rezco to do him a favor by buying the adjacent property ( that was required as part of the sale of the house Obama purchased) then sell him a small part of the property back, enabling Obama to buy his house at much less than it would have cost him.. Not illegal..., but the problem with it was it highlighting his long time association with the now-convicted ( of fraud and bribery) Tonzy Rezco. The Democrats are expert at dividing the country via class envy tactics. Obama started this little battle by making a big deal out of something that is not. I thought Obama was portraying himself as a different kind of candidate, a different kind of politician..., a uniter..., someone bringing people together, above the fray of attack politics.... of course that was a load of garbage as we see from his silly, childish attack on John McCain because McCain couldn't recall how many properties he owns. Being financially successful doesn't mean that you can't understand how economic fluctuations can effect people of middle or lower income. Hmmm... let's see...  who was it on the Democrat side who claimed himself to be the champion of the poor.  John Edwards.  Check his bank account, his 10,000 sqaure foot mansion., etc. The notion that a person who has a lot of money can't represent politically someone who doesn't is ludicrous.  By that way of thinking, a man can't be the political representative of any woman, because he's not a woman and therefore can't relate.  Or a black person can't represent a white person, because he's not white and can't understand the "white" perpsective. or vice versa. It's an intellectually vacant argument. It shows that Obama is desperate. He is reaching for one of the oldest attack plays in liberal democrat handbook. Class envy. If you are not  "rich" ( debatable what that means) then the Democrats want you to mistrust, discredit, and feel abused by those who are "rich". Unless it's a "rich" Democrat, of course.

OBAMA EXPOSES THE DISEASE OF LIBERALISM

By now most people who have been paying attention have heard Obama's convoluted response to the question of when life begins at the Faith Forum at Saddleback Church and have probably also heard of his refusal to vote in favor of a bill against infanticide in the event of a botched abortion where the baby survived. If it's shocking to you that babies born alive from an attempted medical abortion procedure are then deliberately killed outside the womb, good.. it "should" be shocking. A federal bill passed the house and senate and was signed into law in 2002 stopping the practice permitting the killing of babies who survived an abortion procedure.  But Barak Obama refused to sign onto a similar bill at the state level in Illinois. He voted against the bill twice fearing that such a law protecting babies would limit a woman's so-called right to an abortion. He shelved the bill while chairman of a Senate committe that was scheduled to hear it, allowing the bill to die. This is not about Obama's personal life, or Obama's wife, or all the things that liberals claim we have no right to criticize.  The deliberate killing ( also known as murder) of a baby is inexcusable, there is no time or place or reasoning that makes it right. People can debate when life begins, but no one of this world should ever suggest there is anything less than the full protection of law afforded to any baby living outside the womb. The positive aspect of Obama's words and actions are that they expose the disease known as Liberalism for what it is. It is a disease of the soul that destroys the second greatest gift God gave to man, the ability to reason the difference between right and wrong. The greatest gift being life itself. You know, an animal, let's say a tiger for example, instinctively attacks anyone who appears to be a threat to her children. Even an animal instinctively understands that those babies are vital. I'm not trying to put animals on equal footing here, but merely pointing out that even in the lowest forms of life the instinct to protect the baby is a powerful and overwhelming instinct. Liberalism denies the nature of this vital instinct in humans. In an attempt to equivocate life as a matter of convenience to the lowest common denominator, the avowed liberal has taken that greatest of all gifts, the chance to experience as a human being the earth and the universe that God made, and terminated it with extreme prejudice. God gave us life as a way of being part of the greatness of his creation. What emptiness of the soul motivates some to deny that chance to any concieved human child? Even if you don't believe in God, understanding that the greatest achievements of mankind are still undiscovered because they will be achieved by future generations, that every successful birth extends the "potential" of humankind to the benefit of all people is a fundamental understanding that should take no great intellectual effort to reason out. Is it wiser to plan for birth?  Of course. But that does not mean unplanned births produce disposable babies. The challenge is not to find a way to get rid of babies who were born unplanned for, but to reduce unplanned births by engaging in committed relationships , limiting the temptation to engage in casual sexual relationships. That, of course is antithetical to liberal teachings that assume we all will "do it" as often as possible and do it as young as possible. Aligning sexual behavior with moral value is key to reducing unwanted pregnancies, but to drive that message we need to undo the damage that progressive-liberal philosophy has attempted to drill into society.

OBAMA'S AMERICA - BAD TO THE BONE

I have to wonder if Obama understands that as the candidate of one of the 2 largest political machines in the country his words actually have gravity on individual lives. I suspect he thinks its all a political show, Obama's Progressive Circus. I really think he doesn't see the danger of saying stupid things while being looked at as a possibly the next leader of the free world. Or, he doesn't care, as long as he wins. Tire inflation issue aside, this is a reckless trend. Someone has got to tell Obama that his words can prompt some people to alter thier behavior in dangerous ways. For someone in his position to be telling people to take specific actions , the real consequence of which he knows little or nothing about is a dangerous thing. But it does point out one very obvious thing, Obama is a standard bearing card carrying modern incarnation of the progressive-liberal. He approaches governance from the perspective that the country needs to be micro-managed, that every man woman and child needs to be instructed in the day to day process of simply living thier lives, such as being told to keep tires properly inflated. This is NOT THE JOB OF THE PRESIDENT!! FOR GOODNESS SAKE! People should be scared that a man in his position looks at such a topic as a vital set of information to give to the public.   I was listening to Newt Gingrich on fox news radio this week saying that Cheneny is an icon of the past and should not be speaking at the Convention. I have to disagree with Newt. I think Newt is great with the drill here, drill now, movement, but he's become a somewhat tamped down Conservative. Ever since he began spouting his line about the era of Regan being over and needing to move on, I and probably a lot of other Movement Conservatives have had a problem with him. Dick Cheney is highly admired among Conservatives, he's an absolutely no nonsense hard-hitting pillar of Conservative values who epitomizes the phrase "straight talk" and could teach McCain a thing or two about how to take the fight to the Democrats withering under Pelosi's so-called leadership. We should love to have Cheney speak at the convention. Unfortunately, McCain has bought what the liberal Democrats are selling. Liberals have despised Cheney forever and have taken every opportunity to lie about him, lie about Haliburton, and to demonize this great man. It seems that McCain is allowing his Democrat opponents to set the tone of the convention and to determine who will speak there. McCain is being naive... in the sense of being a Democrat dupe... quite frankly... if he snubs Cheney. This will not sit well with Movement Conservatives, If this happens it's just another finger in the eye of the Conservative Movement that McCain can not really afford. If McCain had any political guts at all, any at all...he'd say "to hell with liberals and media who hate Cheney, he's speaking at the convention". That would show courage, it would show fire and defiance of the liberal press, and make Conservatives cheer the position. But , it's not likely to happen. McCain will continue to do the wrong thing and will dis the Bush administration at key events in order to play his sycohpant harp for the left leaning elitists.

THE CHINA SYNDROME

Hello and Welcome,

According to the International Olympic Commission ..."a Beijing Games would leave a unique legacy to China and to sports. The Commission is confident that Beijing could organise an excellent Games".

Pardon me , IOC, but China already has a unique legacy, one of jailing and executing political prisoners, forced abortions, Orwellian control of internet use...,  I think it would be a good idea for the US to boycott this coming olympics in Bejing. Our men and women in the military are fighting and sacrificing thier lives for the freedom and safety of our national homeland. To give Red China, a massive abuser of human rights, rights we fight so strongly every day to defend,  credibility as a host of the world's democracies at an event representing one of the highest achievements in individual excellence is a slap in the face of our founding fathers and those who fight and die to defend our principles. The olympics is a symbol as much as it is a contest.  The olympics represents a specific pinnacle of human greatness and struggle.  It is a testament to individual human achievement.  To host the olympics is an honor, hosting such an event symbolizes your support and respect for individual greatness and for the freedom to achieve that great pinnacle.  China does not represent that. The Chinese government does not honor individuals in its society as free to achieve greateness and excellence.  The Chinese government cracks down on those who dare not to follow thier socialist/communist order. The Chinese government does not appreciate individual heroes who achieve greatness outside of the government's approved programs.  The US should boycott the olympics because of who is hosting it.  A boycott would be the right thing to do symbolically, though it would aggreive the greatest athletes of the US. Perhaps the US could hold it's own event for worldwide athletes this year to openly honor those who have worked hard to achieve greatness in thier field of athletics. While I think President Bush has been a great leader, Bush's legacy will bear a black mark if he goes to the Beijing Olympics..., I will personally be ashamed of him for that. A Chinese Communist Party spokeswoman the other day warned participating nations not to boycott because a boycott would be "inappropriate and unpopular". CHINA IS LECTURING THE WORLD'S DEMOCRACIES ABOUT INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVOIR?  Please!  That's just ridiculous.

PELOSI'S ASTOUNDING IGNORANCE

Last thursday Speaker Of The House Nancy Pelosi issued a public verbal warning to General Petraeus, the top military commander in Iraq whose handling of the recent surge of US military action in Iraq played a key role in turning the tide and forcing embedded terrorists to flee the province. She basically warned him not to give congress any good news when he shows up to deliver his report on the recent outbreak of violence in Basra. She said, “We have to know the real ground truths of what is happening there, not put a shine on events because of a resolution that looks less violent when in fact it has been dictated by al-Sadr, who can grant or withhold that call for violence,”

Obviously Speaker Pelosi has already decided for herself what the report should be, and what the circumstances were regarding the violence.  So why bother with a report from the General?  This is shameful of her. Her comments were a demagogue's spew of pompous arrogance and toxic ignorance.  Madam Speaker..., you are not Commander In Chief of the military, much as you attempt to pretend that you are.  Not only has your own term in congress produced "nothing" of any substance, not only have you failed time-and-time-again to bring stability and unification to your own political party, not only have you failed to deliver on your promise of  "Earmark" ( political pork )reform and instead stood silently as it overflowed, but you have denigrated the men and women of the military with your comments against the war on terror.  Yet you slip away to clandestine visits with terrorist enablers like Basher Assad in Syria to extend him a hand of friendship, while stabbing your own country's military efforts in the back.  In my opinion your behavior makes you a traitor Ms. Pelosi, and in my opinion the worst Speaker Of the House in the history of our country.  That is your legacy. While General Petraeus will be remembered as a hero and a great leader of military successes.  Perhaps you should consider that, before attempting to tell the General that you will not accept his report unless it lives up to your own ignorant standards.

A PROFILE IN COURAGE

A lovely young respected nurse by the name of Patricia Jepsen spent over ten years caring for disabled men, women, boys and girls, at a nursing home facility in Iowa. A single parent with beautiful ebony hair, soft olive-complexion skin, deep penetrating dark eyes and a perfect smile, petite and physically attractive in every way, you would be hard pressed to understand why any man would risk losing her. However, she endured two heartbreaking and tension-filled divorces from men who abused, beat and cheated-on her. Along with this, in the 10th year of a promising career she was diagnosed with a severe condition of Chrons disease. This is an aliment of the bowel system that eats away at the intestinal tract diminishing the body's natural ability to absorb nutrients, as well as being very painful. The most extreme Chrons cases cause holes, ruptures and blockages requiring surgeries and radical medical treatments. Patricia has the misfortune of having one of the most extreme cases of Chrons ever known in the US. Before I continue , let me assure you that human language knows no words of horror sufficient enough to detail the bloody physical and psychological torments that Patricia has undergone as a result. The powerful drugs used to treat her Chrons triggered cancer of the lymphs, it is suspected that the culprit is a drug manufactured under the brand name of Remicade, further requiring her to endure a long process of chemo-therapy and radiation which severely weakened her immune system. Patricia's condition was so tenuous that she made a journey from her home state of Iowa, to Massachusetts to consult with a Gastroenterology expert at Mass General. I had the great good fortune to meet Patricia, who prefers to be called Pat or Trish, while I was using a Web Based personals service. From the first moment we met, Trish was open and honest about herself and expressed a great deal of maturity and sensitivity. We found an immediate attraction. Later Trish introduced me to her two wonderful beautiful daughters Danielle and Jennifer, both highly intelligent and talented young ladies. Jennifer at 18 is a brilliant student, in the process of transitioning to college, she works at a nursing home caring for those who are unable to care for themselves. She is a warm hearted woman who loves animals, poetry,  and has a strong independent spirit. Danielle at 14 is simply amazing. She has a penchant for math, language skills, draws and writes expertly, is a spectacular cheerleader and gymnast, loves to learn new things and is a genuine, honest, and loving  person. Trish has raised her daughters with love, care, and strong guidance. Despite the real physical suffering she endures every day, Trish has not permitted it to stop her from living her life as an example of standing for the highest values of  human morality. Though given her condition she can not maintain a job with regular work hours, she baby-sits at home for long  hours, caring for the children she watches as if they were her own. Despite exhaustion and agonizing weariness, despite the persistent need to give herself long doses of IV medication every day simply to sustain her life, she does what few people could. She smiles, she laughs, and she finds a reason to look forward and hold onto a positive outlook. She doesn't merely live, she lives life itself and does so with amazingly good cheer. The biblical icon JOB himself would have surely faltered  under the burdens Trish endures every day. There is much more that I could say. So many examples I could present of this beautiful endearing woman whose heart of gold can not be crushed, though fate tries to every day.

My reason for explaining all of this is because Trish is a truly remarkable woman. She is a prime example of Conservative principles, without choosing to be, she simply lives her life as a good, decent, person doing the best she can do with the dire circumstances life handed her. She does not expect to be given anything that she has not earned, she gives constantly of herself to others in need, though she has very little herself. And she does not drown in self-pity, but grabs hold of her own spirit and lifts it up, unwilling to cede her existence to forces that work daily to drag her down. There are many reasons to love and admire such a woman, and I do love and admire her.

ENDLESS FREEDOM

Hello and welcome,

With the existence of about 6 billion blogs ( seemingly:), this one is merely reminiscent of that Kansas classic tune "Dust In The Wind". But when the likes of  the Rosie O'Donnell and Barbara Streisand can, and do.., have thier own populist blogs how can anyone resist joining such purveyors of wisdom in the new vista of the corner soap box?

Some brief observations first;

*Pastor Wright is fully entitled and guaranteed his first amendment right to speak his mind. That his mind is overflowing with misinformation and ignorance ( deliberate or not ) , is not his fault. Let's get that out of the way.  Too many straw man arguments are being set up with such deflective comments as "... how can Obama control what his Pastor thinks?",  stylized to nullify debate. Barak Obama made a political calculation by making a connection with Pastor Wright to advance his career, a decision that is now coming back to hurt him. Whether he personally buys into the Pastor's conspiracy theories is debatable, especially given the comments of his spouse. Pastor Wright's controversial comments are shocking and fair game for debate given that Obama has presented him as a mentor and spiritual guide. The story has legs because this sort of liberal anti-American extremeism and overtly racist commentary is not often layed out for exhibition as it has been recently. When such diatribes are made to be media spectacles it is more typical for media to portray it in the context of the extreme political right. This is a new experience to see this sort of left-wing fanatacism in open exposure. Likely this is due to the rift in the Democrat base over the duel for the nomination.  Had a candidate already secured it, I suspect the Wright issue would have met a very swift end in the mainstream.

* Hillary's Lie. Yes, she lied.  She did it with gritty determination and absolutlely no aplomb. What I found fascinating is that Mrs.Clinton's lies are delivered with no shred of the charisma and charm her oft-wayward husband could bring to his bold mistatements. She apparently learned nothing from him on the art of prevarication. Were it Bill who delivered such a hearty fallacy the press would simply have written it off as a mistaken memory and posed a counter intuitive argument that Republican's were somehow the source of the lie. Of course, that would only have been possible during Bill's Presidency. What the Clinton's miscalculated was that the loyalty that the press held for them while in the White House would sustain them while running against liberal insider of color who has an even greater ability to charm progressives than Bill did.

* Now the main thrust of this blog I will make about the recent morbidity toll milestone reached in Iraq regarding US soldiers.

4000 dead is a high number and should be examined closely. Since a soldier who goes to war is fighting on behalf of all US citizens, the question that needs to be asked is, how does the sacrifice of these lives measure up to the values we hold dear as United States Citizens? What are the universal values we agree on as the people of a free country, where our liberties are the key to everything we have? Freedom as a nation, the safety of our daily existence from external threats, the opportunity to thrive and pursue a course that leads us to better our lives individually. To me, and to many citizens, these are basic values that this country could not exist without. These values encompass freedom of the press, freedom to practice our religious beliefs..., the full Bill Of Rights..., and on 9/11/2001 the continuity of our country's most basic values were threatened via a horrifying mass murder. When something on this scale this happens, it is the duty of our President to respond swiftly. It is the duty of our great volunteer military to answer that threat. And it is the duty of every citizen who values the basic foundation on which our country was formed, to do whatever they can to aid and support the cause of defending our country's liberties. Every life that met an end on the field of battle defending the very pillars that hold this country up, is a scion of the courage born of the love of freedom for all of us. There is no greater sacrifice that any individual can make than laying down the life that beats in the human heart so that other lives will survive with liberty and freedom. No one deserves higher honor or more respect, and the fight itself to defend us deserves the same respect.  I do not look upon the deaths of our fellow citizens in combat as a tragedy, but as evidence that the willingness of our citizenry to defend freedom is as strong today as it was over 200 years ago. I look upon our fellow citizens in combat as carrying the same fight on thier shoulders that the minute-men of the Revolutionary war carried on thiers, ready at a minute's notice to stand against an enemy that would gladly see us crumble and fall.

Many years ago my brother Craig was in England studying law as an exchange student and had booked a flight home. The flight he was booked on was Pan-Am flight 103, December 21st, 1988. By a scheduling error he was bumped from that flight and the plane took off without him. That plane was blown-up by terrorists over Lockerbie Scotland. Many of his fellow students who traveled with him to England were on that plane. As a result he changed his legal studies to international law and dedicated himself finding a way to bring international terrorists to justice. He succeeded at getting a treatise on punishment of international terrorists that he co-authored with his law school professor read before the United Nations. Sadly, no agreements were reached, and his work did not influence the tyrants of the middle eastern nations to agree to punish terrorists uniformly. The reason I mention this is because , Craig did what he could in his own way, but it was not enough. The only way terrorism is going to be brought down is through direct confrontation and cooperation from our allies. The war on terror is absolutely vital and I salute our fellow citizens for thier courage and determination in pressing it and our President for not relenting under enormous pressure from Democrats.

Thank you.
